A trade from the celestials

Every two thousand years, a strange light appears in front of the Gnome mountain Thundre. The thousand year old residents report that once this light beckons, their health gets rejuvenated for a price. When asked about what it is traded for, they simply shrug and leave the conversation.
This has intrigued me to no end, so I've decided to camp here and investigate..
